Urban Growth Control...It's A Good Thing
Now that the stress of finding a house is over, and the stress of dealing with the fact that we currently have two houses has begun, it was time for us to have some fun exploring the Portland Metro area.
We started off by taking the Max downtown to Lum Yuen in Chinatown for some delicious dim sum. The place was pretty run down (it was boarded up to the point that I actually thought it was closed) but the dim sum was excellent. You can usually trust the place has good food if >90% of the clientele is Chinese. After brunch, we walked down to the Saturday Market to check out the artists and then walked around the Pearl District and looked in on Knit Knot and Lint. Moving to Portland could be dangerous for my stash.
We took the Max back to Hillsboro and took the car out to the country (only 13 miles out of downtown thanks to the Urban Growth Control measures in place here). Beautiful rolling hills and farmland reminiscent of Wisconsin and the hillier parts of the Midwest. We checked out a few wineries (Oak Knoll, Cooper Mountain, and Ponzi). Pinot gris and pinot noirs were excellent. We then headed over to the east side of the Willamette to Saburo's in Sellwood for sushi in Paul Bunyan sizes.
On the knitting front, more progress has been made on the poncho and Mystery #5.
