More Signs of Spring

I remember the excitement my Mom always felt when she found the first morels of the season in our backyard. They were always pushing up through the thick blanket of pine needles under one of the pines. These along with the daffodils and tulips heralded the coming of Spring in West Michigan.

Now I didn't pick these from under the pine in our backyard but they looked so luscious at the farmer's market that they invariably basket-jumped along with this beautiful head of butter lettuce.



So this Mother's Day, in honor of my Mom and all the rest of you great Mothers out there, I hope you enjoy this creation from this week's market......
