Hanging On

The last few days have not been fun. A cycle of fevers, vomiting, and loose BMs culminated in a visit to the ER yesterday. Nathan refused to take anything by mouth and was starting to get pretty dehydrated which is obviously a concern in such a little guy. We called the Dr. and she told us to get him to the ER. Once there, we (the nurses, doctors, us) tried to get him to take something by mouth but after 45 minutes of trying, they made the decision to put him on IV fluids and it definitely wasn't the easiest thing in the world to see people stick things into our baby (I only shed a few tears). They had him on the IV for four hours while they pumped him full of electrolytes and made sure that he had a wet diaper. He did, and then some (I had to go home in paper scrubs) and was also starting to drink water from a sippy so they discharged us.

He still is running a fever as his body continues to fight the virus from h-e-double hockey sticks and his tummy is still bugging him but we think he's over the hump. He's eating, drinking, playing, and most definitely has more energy.
