Strike 2

About two years ago, when Nathan was six months old, we attempted camping. It was not a great experience since he would not sleep in the tent. So we put all our gear away and stuck to dayhiking until we summoned up the courage to try again. This time, we set up the tent in the backyard. He was excited at first to sleep in the tent with Daddy. This excitement lasted through dinner, his bath, toothbrushing, and 2 1/2 stories. As Chad was reading the third story, it finally dawned on him that they were really going to sleep in the tent and the meltdown of all meltdowns ensued. Not until he was in his room and cuddling with us did he calm down. Time to put the gear away and try again in a year or two.
And now for something completely different, my favorite fig application.

Batch #2 is drying now and I froze another 12-15 pounds to make into preserves later on. We're starting to emulate Bubba from Forrest Gump, this time with figs....
