Of Birthdays, Puppies, and Snow

Where has the time gone? Nathan just turned five! Hard to believe, isn't it? His birthday party capped off a wild and crazy week up here in the Pacific Northwest. We've had snow since last Sunday and it's still coming down. But not wanting to tell a five-year-old that Mother Nature really doesn't give a d--n about his plans, the puppy party was still a go. 

We had a few cancellations from folks in Portland/Vancouver who had longer drives but a bunch of "Is it still on?" calls because the kids are really excited. I think it was more like, "School has been canceled all week and we NEED to get out and wreck someone else's house for a bit.

It was fun. A few tears, some sharing issues, but everyone seemed to have a good time and nothing can top the sight of seven preschoolers crammed into a cardboard doghouse.
