Back to Blogging
We've returned from *No Blog* land. We had some internet connectivity issues up in Portland so I apologize to all of you who have made us part of your daily routine (Steph already scolded me).
It was an eventful few days in PDX. We flew up on Tuesday through SFO. Nathan charmed all the flight attendants and earned his wings...really just a Ted button since the days of cockpit visits are long over. He also made friends with the kids in the various waiting areas.
We had the house inspection and walk-thru with the builder on Wednesday. No major issues as expected (it is a new house after all). Just finishing up the little details and some cosmetic touching up. As promised, we did take lots of pictures of the inside of the house. Enjoy!
We went through the backyard to tag all the vegetation that we wanted removed and ended up keeping more than we expected including a honeysuckle, a fig tree (yippee), and lots of rhododendrons. Apparently, the former landowner was the president of the Portland Rhododendron Society. Note to self - brush up on rhododendron care.
In other news, have you ever noticed how lame journalists get when there is a major weather event in another part of the country. Fox News in Portland was staking out Portland Airport this morning salivating at the thought of breaking news that Hurricane Ivan could possibly cause air traffic delays. The typical interview went like this:
Reporter: I see you're travelling today. Are you concerned at all about delays?
Unlucky Traveller: No, not really.
Reporter: Why not? You know there's a hurricane in the southeastern US.
Unlucky Traveller: I'm going to Hawaii.
Reporter: Oh. Well back to the newsroom.....
Funny thing is, Fox 10 was doing the same thing when we landed in Phoenix.
