Strawberry Fields Forever

Stephanie is in town this weekend so we're out terrorizing the Greater Portland area. First was a morning visit to the Portland Farmer's Market where we partook in a large variety of spring produce bringing home potatoes, tomatoes, fava beans, bread, cherries, among other things. Then while Chad stayed home playing the mad beer scientist, we took Nathan to a strawberry farm to do our part in rescuing this year's strawberry crop (apparently u-pickers have been scarce this year due to weather). It's been a while since I've had a freshly picked berry. There's nothing better......

The products of our spoils? Bruschetta, porcini risotto and the most luscious Strawberry Country Cake imaginable.

Click here for the recipe. Tomorrow we conquer Eugene.....
