Huh?

I noticed a new product at the grocery store the other day: Coca Cola Zero. How is it different from Diet Coke? Who knows? Save for a 10 mg difference in sodium (in the noise, I say since Diet Coke with Lime has the same sodium level as CCZ), they're the same.

So I did some digging. Apparently Diet Coke is Diet *New Coke* while Coca Cola Zero is Diet Coke Classic and is geared towards men. I guess real men won't drink diet soda but will drink *zero*?

Whatever happened to true product development?

This is when marketing and consumer trends get into the picture. I bet Coke product developers have brilliant ideas for product but do not fit into any marketing concepts. The flankers are the easiest and cheapest way to get a space in the supermarket shelves. They do not take into account that some geek will be doing a research on their products :-).

Supposedly Coke Zero is supposed to taste more like regular Coke... I tried it...it's sweeter tasting and actually tastes like regular RC cola. :D
